More than 5000 children and young people are involved with armed forces and groups in Somalia. Boys and girls are recruited into armed groups to serve as combatants, cooks, porters, messengers and other roles. Last year UNICEF supported reintegration services for more than 760 children providing vocational training, counselling and support with funding from the European Union, DFID, Canada and OFDA.
