Creative play involves activities that allow children to experiment, create or make something from their own imagination. Creative activities often involve arts and crafts such as painting, drawing, sticking and gluing, collage, sand and water, dough, clay and junk modelling.
Creative play allows children to express themselves and should not involve too much adult involvement. To be truly creative the play should be lead by the children’s own ideas and imagination. It is the Early Years Practitioner’s role to provide a range of materials, support the children where necessary and offer encouragement and praise.
